The Alpha and Omega

November 13, 2004
Rev 1:8  "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the lord God.  He who is and who was and who is to come.  The Almighty (Ruler of All)"

God the Father is the Eternal Lord and Ruler of the past, present, and future.  Without You I have nothing that is eternal, nothing that can change my life, nothing that can save me from sin.  You are my reason for living.  I honor the One who is  the beginning and the end of all existence, wisdom, and power.

Just as God the Father finished the work of creation (Gen 2:1-3), so Jesus the Son finished the work of redemption (John 19:30), so the Trinity will finish the entire plan of salvation by inviting the redeemed into a new creation.

I am so thankful for Your Trinity.  If You were not the Great Three in One, Father Son and Holy Spirit - we would be powerless and useless here in this world.  You created us in the beginning to love and have fellowship with You.  We broke that fellowship when Adam sinned but you planned for Jesus to come and redeem us.

If you were not also the Holy Spirit who abides in use and works through us, the truth and the saving grace would not be told and passed down through the generations.  We would not and could not do it without Your abiding Holy Spirit.

That is how You are in the past, present, and future - the beginning, middle and the end:  Alpha and Omega.

A Wall of Fire

November 8, 2004

Zechariah 2:5 "For I, says the Lord, will be to her (Jerusalem) a wall of fire round about, and I will be the glory in the midst of her."

My Lord, I continue to be amazed as to how much You love us, and how many different ways You protect Your own.  You dwelt in the midst of Your holy city, Jerusalem, and at the same time You were (are) a wall of fire around her (us) protecting from seen and unseen enemies.

I believe this applies to us today as well.  To anyone who trust in You, an individual like me, a church, a body of believers, a city, or a country.  Our soldiers in Iraq need a wall of  fire protecting them from car bombers, snipers, mines, etc.  Our nation need a wall of holy fire around our borders so no enemy can penetrate it again like they did on Sept 11, 2001.  Our churches need that wall of fire to keep out the enemy and his lies and arrows of discouragement so they cannot do his dirty work in your people.

Our city and country need Your protection in so many ways; our leaders, from local mayors, police, up to the congressional leaders, the President, his cabinet, the military.  O God be that wall of fire that protects - may the enemies see it and flee.  and may Your glory continue to abide in us that all may see and even the wicket must acknowledge you.

Thank You for Your daily protection.  I know we will all be amazed at how many times Your hand of protection was there, saving us from dangers we never were aware of.  May we always give You praise, in everything, and remember you are our Wall of Fire!

A Sure Foundation

Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus says the Lord God, "Behold, I am laying in Zion for a foundation a Stone, a tested Stone, a precious cornerstone of sure foundation; he who believes (trusts in, relies on, and adheres to that stone) will not be ashamed or give way or hasten away (in sudden panic).

Acts 4:11 This Jesus is the STONE which was despised and rejected by you, the builders, but which has become the HEAD of the corner (the Cornerstone).

I Peter 2:4-6  Come to Him (then, to that) Living Stone which men tried and threw away, but which is chosen and precious in God's sight.  Come and like living stones, be yourselves built into a spiritual house for a holy (dedicated, consecrated) priesthood, to offer up those spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable and pleasing to God through Jesus Christ.  For thus it stands in Scripture (referring to Isaiah 28:16)

My Lord, You are the only sure foundation - all else is shifting sand.  How you have stood steady and secure through all the storms and earthquakes of my life.  The winds and rains have come and the winds of adversity have blown hard.  But I'm still standing on that solid Rock.  I have trusted IN, relied ON You and You have made me into a living stone in Your spiritual house.  All else may fail around me, but I know I am safe and secure in You.

Praise be to Christ Jesus, the Chief Cornerstone.

Update

Thanks to you, mom's faithful and occasional readers.  I apologize for the sporatic and few posting in the last six months.  Dad died in March and we've been buried in maintenance issues related to rental properties that Mom and Dad own.  I hope to start posting additional journal entries in the fall when temperatures drop and (I hope) we're not as busy.

A Refiner and Purifier

Malachi 3:3  "He will sit and judge like a refiner of silver, watching closely as the dross is burned away.  He will purify the Levites (and me too) refining them like gold or silver, so that they may once again offer acceptable sacrifices to the LORD."

(foot note in New Living) In the process of refining metals, the raw metal is heated with fire until it melts.  The impurities separate from it and rise to the surface.  They are skimmed off, leaving the pure metal.  Without this heating and melting there could be no purifying.  As the impurities are skimmed off the top the reflections of the worker appears in the clear, pure surface.  As we are purified by God, His reflection in our life will become more and more clear to those around us.

Alkali was also used as a strong soap to whiten cloth.  This, too, is a symbol of the purifying process.

Father, I am so grateful that You are the One who purifies me and judges the results.  You are the only one who could judge fairly and accurately.  My desire is to endure the process willingly and with dignity.  Turn the heat high so all the dross and impurities may float up and be cast out forever.  Wash me clean by the strong powerful cleansing of Christ's blood.  May You see Your reflection in my life and may others also recognize You in me.

A Quickening spirit

October 31, 2004
I Cor. 15:45 - "Thus it is written, the first man, Adam, became a living being (an individual personality); the last Adam (Christ) became a Quickening Spirit (life-giving Spirit restoring the dead to life."

Genesis 2:7 says after You formed Adam from the dust of the ground, he was lifeless until You breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life.  Then man became a living being.  At this point man was an eternal being, BUT when he sinned, he had to die for his sin.  "But God" (again, I love that phrase)...But God, in Your mercy knew in advance this would happen.   You had a plan all along.

Jesus, Your Son would become a man, live a sinless life, and become the perfect sacrifice to pay not only for Adam's since, but for everyone of us through eternity.  When we believe Jesus is Your Son, accept his payment for our sin and repent, then You breath that Quickening Spirit into us.  Your Holy Spirit in me will never leave.  He is my physical and spiritual life, my energy in every way.  He is the air I breathe, the food that sustains me.  Life-giving and life-restoring and most important, life-keeping!

Lord, I praise You for the presence of your Quickening Spirit that abides in me.  May I never quench or stifle Him.  Enable me to hear His voice and to obey in every way.  May I always allow His power to work on me, in me, and through me.  Praise to your Quickening Spirit!

A Great Light

Isaiah 9:2 "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light;  Those who dwelt in the land of intense darkness and the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined."

Isaiah 42:6  "I, the Lord, have called You (the Messiah) for a righteous purpose and in righteousness.  I will take You by the hand and will keep You; I will give You for a covenant to the people (Israel) for a light to the nations (Gentiles."

"The Light of the World is Jesus"

We all walk in darkness, in the persistant shadow of death, eternal death, until Your Light, Jesus sihines upon us.   I praise You Lord, and I am ever so grateful that the Light of Jesus' love, forgiveness, and eternal life, is not exclusively for Your people, the Jews.

You sent Your Light into the dark world for a righteous purpose, to give Christ's righteousness to us, even through we are so unworthy.

When we believe and accept His gift of redemption and forgiveness, His Light shines on us and in us.  And You expect that we allow it to sihne through us so others who are still in darkeness can be born into the light, and walk in the Light.

Jehovah Tsidkenu - The Lord our Righteousness

Jeremiah 23:6 - ...This is His name by which he shall b called - The Lord our Righteousness.

There is a hope for those who have given up hope.  It is a name of life fore those who can see only death.  What an exchange!  My sin, past, present, and future - for His marvelous, incalculable righteousness and purity.

Lord, at Calvary's cross you became sin on my behalf that I might become righteous in God's eyes.  Your purity and righteousness became mine.  No longer does Our Father see my sin, my filthy rags, my utter unworthiness.

He sees me clothed in Your pure white robe of righteousness.  My sin is gone, forever.  My debt has been cleared.

Jesus Christ has redeemed me, but not with silver or gold or anything perishable.  BUT, with the precious blood as of a lamb, unblemished and spotless.  The blood of Christ the Son of God himself, was shed for me.

I am so aware of my unrighteousness.  but I know now that is not who I am any longer.  The day I confessed my sin, acknowledged Your payment for my sin, accepted the free gift of redemption, I became righteous in Your eyes.

This is a debt I can never pay.  Thank you.  keep me humble and yet aware that I am now not only righteous, but You are making me holy, for your purposes

Praise Jehovah Tsidkenu, My Righteousness.  Hallelujah!  Amen.

Jehovah-Shammah: the Lord is There

Ezekiel 48:35 "The city shall be 18,000 cubits round about; and the name of the city from that day shall be 'The Lord is There."  Shammah means "there."

Hebrews 13:5c (amplified)
"He (God) Himself has said I will not in any way fail you nor give you up, nor leave you without support.  I will not, I will NOT, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake, nor let you down." "Relax my hold on you, assuredly not!"  Josh 1:5

The more we open our hearts and lives to study, learn, and apply Your Word to our hearts, Your Holy Spirit assures us that You are There!

"I will be with you, Jean.  I will not fail you.  Do you now know that you are the tenple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?  II Cor 6:16

The nearness of God is my good.  I have made the LORD my God my refuge.

He, Jesus, was here on earth in body among His people and they did not see and believe.  He was here.  he is here now as the Holy Spirit.  And He will come again as King of Kings to rule over teh nations of this world.

Lord teach me to live in the expectancy of Your Son from heaven, whom You raised from the dead - Jesus - who delivers us from the wrath to come.

I desire to be where You are; to be aware of Your indwelling presence.  Praise Jehovah Shammah.  God is here!

Jehovah-raah, My Shepherd

Psalm 23:1  "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want."
"We are like sheep - all gone astray."  Isaiah 53:6
"My sheep hear my voice."  John 10:27
"We are the sheep of His pasture."  Psalm 100:3
"My people have become lost sheep."  Jeremiah 50:6
God's word says "He has magnified His Word above his Name."  Ps. 138:2

He says, "Save your people and bless their inheritance; be their Shepherd also, and carry them forever." Ps 28:9
"He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock."  Jeremiah 31:10
"For thus says the Lord God, 'Behold, I Myself will search for my sheep and seek them out, as a shepherd cares for his herd in the day when he is among his scattered sheep - so I will care for my sheep and will deliver them from all the places to which they were scattered on a cloudy and gloomy day...I will feed my flock and I will lead them to rest...I will seek the lost, bring back the scattered, bind up the broken and strengthen the sick."  Ezekiel 14:11, 12, 15, 16

It is not a bad life being a plain old sheep when I stop to consider that the Lord is my Shepherd (Kay Arthur).

Like a shepherd, He will tend His flock in His arms He will gather the lambs and carry them in His bosom;  He will gently lead the nursing ewes."  Isaiah 40:6

Father, God, Jesus My Shepherd:  Thank you that even as the young lambs grow into old ewes, You still love and tenderly care for them - for me.  We are not discarded.  You continue in Your passionate care of young and old and all in between.

  • You keep me free from fear; protecting and leading me step by step.
  • You keep me free from hunger; providing good pastures that produce sustaining food.
  • You keep me free from friction by calming my anxious heart.  Your abiding Holy spirit relieves all tension and worry.
  • I am kept free from pests and illness by Your watchful eyes and wisdom on treating the ones that come along.  Your Word satisfies my spiritual hunger. (I Peter 2:2)
Your love enables me to trust and not become fearful (I John 4:16, 18)
Love replaces fear (II Timothy 1:7)
Your Word enables and empowers me to forgive others (Matthew 6:12-15)
and to keep close to You and keep the channel of love open (Matthew 5:23-24)

Surely Your goodness and loving kindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:6)

Thank you, good Shepherd, for Your continuing watchcare over me.  Keep me close to You even if you must break my leg to do it.  I am Your sheep - I belong to You.  I love you.

Jehovah Sabaoth - The Lord of Hosts

August 23, 2004

The name Sabaoth means "mass."  In this case it refers to a mass of heavenly beings, a mass of angels, or an army of heavenly hosts.  Jehovah Sabaoth rules over all angelic hosts.  He rules over all the armies of heaven.  He is Lord over all powers, principalities, and rulers in high places.  (Kay Arthur)

I Samuel 1:11
And she (Hannah) was greatly distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly.  And she made a vow and said "O Lord of Hosts, if Thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid and remember me and not forget, but will give me a son, I will give him to the Lord, all the days of his life."

"There is a name, Jehovah Sabaoth, that I can call upon in times of conflict and warfare.  It is a name that makes the very pillars of the universe tremble (Kay Arthur).

O my Lord, Jehovah, Sabaoth, Lord of Hosts.  We need you!  the battle we are in is Yours.  You are the one who is in charge and we can trust You.  We do not face the enemy alone.  No one in heaven or earth, angels, demons, or Satan himself can stand against You.

I know the situation is puny in the light of other things.  But it is one that keeps popping its ugly head up for us.  Do I have enough faith for the two of us?  My husband thinks he must handle everything.  he hasn't yet learned how to put it all into Your hands.  And I know I waffle back and forth, but I am learning.  I know we do not fight our battles with weak weapons of the flesh.  The battle is Yours!

I know Your name is not some magic cure-all, or talisman, but You are a Strong Tower (Proverbs 18:10).  "The consistently righteous man (upright and in right standing with God) runs into it and is safe, high (above evil) and strong."

"In this refuge we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of

I know I have no righteousness in my own, it is Christ's righteousness who is consistent that covers me.  Thank you.

Jehovah Sabaoth, I choose today, August 23, 2004, to run into the tower of the Lord of Hosts.  Have your mercy on us, Lord.  We need Your strength and wisdom. We need faith and trust and hope.  You are the One who is in charge and I can trust you, Jehovah Sabaoth, the Lord of Hosts: Jehovah El Elyon, the Sovereign Most High God:  Jehovah Nissi, our banner of victory.  Praise to Your Holy Names!

Jehovah-Shalom - the Lord is peace

August 18, 2004

He (Gideon) said, "Alas Lord God!  For now I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face."  And the Lord said to him "Peace to you, do not fear; you shall not die."  Then Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and named the Lord is Peace.  Judges 6:22-24

"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift His countenance on you and give you peace."  Numbers 6:22-27

Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on God, because he trusted in God.  Isaiah 26:3

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say rejoice!  Let your forbearing spirit be known to all men.   The Lord is near.  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of god which surpasses all understanding (comprehension) shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:4-7

Oh my god, Jehovah Shalom.  I need your peace today.  I know true peace cannot be found in any other place than in right relationship with You.  You Lord, are Peace.  My husband needs your peace.  I need your peace.  You know the circumstances.  You may have even orchestrated them to bring us to You on our knees.  I claim the peace You offer for myself and for my husband, as he doesn't know how to receive it.

Right now my head is pounding.  Relieve the tension, fill me with that peace that surpasses all human comprehension!  May  Your face shine on us both, be gracious unto us and give us Your Peace and wisdom.  Keep our minds rock-solid, focused on You.  enable us to trust You and also be obedient to You so You can keep us in that place of peace.

Jehovah Shalom - I accept your gift of peace, by faith.  Thank you and praise to the Lord of Peace.

Jehovah-Mekaddishkem - The God who Santifies

Sanctify means set apart, consecrated, separated unto God.

Exodus 31: 12-13 (amp) "And the Lord said to Moses, say unto the Israelites, Truly you shall keep my Sabbaths, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations that you may know that I, the LORD, sanctify you (set you apart for Myself)."

Leviticus 20:7-8 (amp) "Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am the LORD your God.  And you shall keep my statutes and do them, I am the LORD who sanctifies you."

Webster definition:
Consecrate - 1) to induct (as a bishop) into an office with a religious rite.  2) to make or declare sacred.  3) to devote solemnly to a purpose.

My Lord, I see from this that You are the one who inducts me into Your service, but I must devote myself solemnly to Your purposes, and You declare and make me holy, and set me free from sin.  You set me apart long ago in eternity past, you chose me.  Ephesians 1:4 "Even as (in his love) He chose us (me, Jean!).  He actually picked us out for Himself as his own, in Christ before the foundations of the world, that we (I) should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach before Him in love."

This is so awesome, that Jehovah, the Self Existent One, who created all that exists, would choose me, on purpose, and set me apart.  You even provided the only way that I could be not only cleansed of my sin, but to be free from it.  You freed me from sin's power and one day in heaven.  I will be forever free from sins presence.

But I praise you that even now in this sinful world I live in, You have made me holy and consecrated to Your service.  You count me worthy because You see me in the perfectness that You created me to be.  You see the righteousness of Your Holy Son covering me.  Thank you, Jehovah Mekaddishkem.  the One and Only One Who Sanctifies and consecrates me and makes me holy in  Your eyes.
Hallelujah!
Amen

The Lord - Soverign One

Sovereign One - Ruler of All - My Shepherd, Jehovah Raah.  I am under His watchful care.  I shall not want.  Jehovah El.

He is responsible to feed my body and my spirit.  Jehovah Jireh.  He leads and guides my every step.  He shields me from harm.  He makes me to lie down in green pastures.  He shares my load, carrying the greater part of it.  He provides rest, refreshment, and renewal when I am weary.  He leads me beside still waters.  He restores my soul and revives my spirit.

He is the Living Water and the Bread of Life that restores my soul.  He leads me in the paths of righteousness.  Jehovah Tsidkenu.  He is my righteousness.  I have none in myself.  I cannot earn it - it is his gift to me.

Yea though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I will not fear, for He is with me.  Immanual.  You are with me.

Jehovah Shammah - the Lord is There.
Jehovah - my protector
Jehovah - my guide
Jehovah - my comforter.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  Jehovah Jireh, my providers.  You anoint my head with oil.  Jehovah Maccaddeshcem, the Lord who sanctifies me.

My cup runneth over.  He came that I may have life - Abundant Life!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever!  Amen.  Hallelujah!

Jehovah-Nissi: The Lord My Banner

Numbers 21 tells that Israel had sinned and God's judgment was poisonous snakes that killed them.  Moses was instructed by God to set up a standard and everyone who looked at it would live.  Jesus is that standard - that banner:  Jehovah Nissi.

In Numbers the people confessed, Moses interceeded, and God commanded.  In John 3 Jesus himself likens his death on the corss to Moses lifting up the serpent on the pole in the wilderness.  "As men were saved from physical death by looking to the brass serpent on the pole, so man would be saved from spiritual death by believing in Him who was made sin for us and hung on a tree."

This great quote from Kay Arthur, "We have only to look across the darkness and confusion of our life struggles to see our great King's standard lifted high.  He is our shining assurance of victory."

"The flesh (represented by Amalek) will never stop attacking and trying to drag you under, but you have Jehovah Nissi and there is victory under that Standard." (Kay Arthur)

You are not alone on the battlefield.  Look to the Lord, your Banner!  It is His battle.

Father, we battle the flesh all of our life and we are often tempted to raise that white flag of surrender.  I praise You that You are Jehovah Nissi - My Banner.  You are always tehre.  all I need to do is look up into Your face, get my eyes and attention off of me and my so-called problems.  Look up to You, the Perfect Standard.

I will never, ever win the war against my flesh in myself.  Only by your grace, mercy, and the power of Your indwelling Holy Spirit is victory possible.  This war has already been won on the cross.  I will be in many a battle, but the war has been won by Jesus Christ, Jehovah Nissi, the victor.

Praise be to You, that I can walk in victory, with my head held igh, eyes fixed on You, My Banner of Victory.  Hallelujah!

Jehovah-Rapha: The Lord who Heals (post script)

November 11, 2005
My hip is hurting today and I am once again praising You for keeping it going these 25 years since the replacement.   And asking once again for it to last til the rapture or You take me home.  I worship You - Jehovah-Rapha, My Healer.

Jehovah-Rapha: The Lord who Heals

Exodus 15:26c "...I Am the Lord who heals you."

Psalm 147:3 (Amplified) "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (curing their pains and their sorrows)."

Psalm 103:2-3 (Amplified) "Bless (affectionately, grateful praise) the Lord, O my soul and forget not one of His benefits.  Who forgives (every one of ) all your iniquities, who heals (each one of) your diseases."

I Peter 2:24 (Amplified) "personally bore our sins in His own body on teh tree (as on an altar and offered Himself on it) that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness.  By his wounds you have been healed."

Lord, you are as active in wounding as You are in healing.  You often have to allow us to get so down, down to the bottom, so we will cry out to You for healing of our sina nd our sickness.

I thank you so very much that I am basically very healthy.  I credit this to You and praise You for blessing me in this way.  You do heal my body so often, just last week You healed the burn on my hand overnight.

I praise you too that You heal our broken hearts and enable us to carry on with life and to use our experiences to encourage others.

I am an old woman and I do not know what means you have planned for my coming home to you.  It may be sickness and disease, or an accident (so called) or just old age.  But I do know that I am ready and that I can trust You for the grace to die - even as I trust you daily for grace to live.

For you are the One who has healed my sin-sick sould and who keeps these aging, creaky bones and weakened muscles working.  I praiser you, Joehova Rapha - My Healer!

Jehovah Jireh - The Lord Will Provide

'My God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in gloy in Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:19

Not only had Jehovah Jireh foreseen you need for eternal salvation, He also sess your day by day needs.  The Lord will Provide - Genesis 22:14.   God provided a substitute ram im place of Isaac on Mount Moriah.  Later Soloman built the temple on Mount Moriah, where sacrifices were offered for years for the people's sin.

Later Christ himself became the ultimate substitute sacrifice for all mankind's sin.  For my sin.   Jehovah-Jireh provided for my sin.  he did not spare His only Son, but allowed Jesus to die in my place.

This is truly the ultimate provision for me.  And, wonder of wonders, God cares so much for me that he sees my daily needs and provides for each one.

Lord, keep me ever mindful of your daily care for me.  May I never be ungrateful.  I think you for the strength and ability to get out of bed each morning.  Thank you for providing a warm water pool for my use because I know it is your way of keeping me mobile.  Thank you for my home and daily food.

I am so thankful for all the little things You do for me.  Things that are not life or death matters, but You provide them just because You love me and know I enjoy them.

You truly do provide out of Your riches in glory, to bless me here on earth.  I praise You, Jehovah-Jireh, my provider.

Jehovah - Self Existant One

July 19, 2004

Jehovah - The most sacred name of all - used 6,823 times in teh Old Testament.  The I AM.  Exodus 3:14 "And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM AND WHAT I AM, AND I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE."

Jehovah is the Being who is absolutely self-existant.  He possess essential life and permanent existance.  Exod 34:5-7 "And the Lord (Jehovah) descended in the cloud and stood with him (Moses) there and proclaimed the name of the Lord.  And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed 'The LORD, the LORD!  A God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving-kindness and truth.  keeping mercy and loving-kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgressions and sin.  But who will by no means leave the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and children's children to the third and fourth generations."

O my Lord, Jehovah - the Self Existant one One - You are who You claim to be.  the I AM, and if I have You, I have everything I will ever need.

You are the eternal "I AM."  You are Alpha and Omega.  You are the same yesterday, today, and forever.  All life is contained in You.

You are the same One who appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and You have revealed Yourself to me - Jean!  You have been merciful and gracious to me - You have redeemed me from the pit of hell and called me your child.

You have a purpose for my life, and you will empower and enable me to accomplish that purpose - to Your eternal honor, glory and majesty.

I worship you, Jehovah, the Self Existant One

El Shaddai - the All Sufficient One

El - meaning Power
Shad - the Breast
The thought expressed in the name Shaddai describes poer but not the power of violence. Shaddai primarily means "breasted" from the Hebrew word "Shad" that is "the breast" or more exactly a woman's breast.

Shaddai is one of the divine titles of God meaning The Pourer, or shedder forth of blessings, temporal or spiritual. (Names of God by Andrew Jukes).

El Shaddai pours Himself out for His children, gives His life blood, sheds forth his Spirit. The breast of a mother gives life to her child, she has power over the child.

Genesis 17:1 (Amplified) I Am the almighty God (El shaddai). Live and walk habitually before me, be perfect (blameless, wholehearted, complete) and I will make my covenant (solemn pledge) between me and you and will multiply you exceedingly."

My Lord, you created me and as El Shaddai, the All Sufficient One, You have power over me, Your needy child. You pour out life-giving sustainance into me. You shed Your life that me that I might be like you.

That I might live eternally. You sustain me day by day. I have never come away from you wanting - You are my El Shaddai, my All Sufficient One.

No matter what I need, You are there will wide open arms, to hold me on Your lap, dryin gmy tears, cleaning my open wounds, and applying your healing balm. Over and over again You have proved that You are my Protector and ahve beven so freely of Your unconditional love and grace.

You delight to run to help me. You delight to be my comfort. You long to hold me in Your protective arms. You pour Yourself out for me, your created one. You pour yourself into me that I might be like you.

My weakness, my stubborness, my frailty are nothing to you. You have all the might I will ever require.

El Shaddai, My All Sufficient One. I praise and thank You and give you all my love.

El Roi - The God Who Sees

Genesis 16:13-14
"Thou are a God who sees" for she said, "Have I even remained alive after seeing Him?" Therefore the wall was called Beer-la-hai-roi (The wall of the Living One who sees me).

You see all! You see me at this moment sitting in my chair in the early morning. You see and You care. You are working in each one of us.

It boggles my mind that You seen and care, but when I think that we are just a few and yet You also see every single person on earth now, and those who will yet be born, and all those who have gone before us. you love and care for each and every one. You are the Refuge, the High Tower of safety for those who call out to You.

Psalm 139:7-12
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to the heavens, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

If I take the wings of dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me. If I say, "surely the darkness will overwhelm me, and the light around me be night," even the darkness is not dark to You and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to you.

You are sovereign and I choose this day to trust Your Name for You do not forsake those who seek you.

"The Omnipresent God is there and His eyes are not shut. God Sees!" Kay Arthur

My Lord, Creator

As I think of the words to the two songs (All hail the Power of Jesus' Name and Majesty) I am moved and filled with emotion and so much gratitude.

Jesus, Your Name IS above every other! Every knee will one day bend before your, either out of love an ddevotion to you...or by the sheer force of Your holy presence they will fall down before you in terror.

You name will break every stronghold. I must believe that you will break the strongholds that are holding all those many people I am praying for. You will set every captive free - every single person I pray for day after day, week after week, year after year.

I know my prayers are not in vain. I trust the vision you once gave me. With every prayer I send up, a piece of the imprisioning wall crumbles and one day teh whole wall will fall and set them free.

Thank you for the mighty power of prayer in Your name. Then each and every one will crown You King of their life and fall in love and honor before You in true worship.

Crown him LORD OF ALL!
Hallelujah...Amen!

All hail the Power of Jesus Name

Olivia Holden & Edward Perronet

All Hail the power of Jesus' name let angels prostrate fall.
Bring forth the royal diadem and crown Him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem and crown Him Lord of all.

Ye chosen seed of Israel's race, ye ransomed from the fall.
Hail Him who saves you by his grace and crown him Lord of All.
Hail Him who saves you by his grace and crown him Lord of All.

Elohim – Creator

“El” means mighty or strong. “Him” is a plural ending in Hebrew. Elohim indicates the Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Gen 1:26 “Then God (Elohim) said “Let Us make man in Our image.” God created me. I exist because of God. He who formed the swirling galaxies, blazing stars, and the orbiting planets also formed me.

Isaiah 43:1, 3, 4, 7
Thus says the Lord, your Creator “I am the Lord your God (Elohim) you are precious in My sight. Everyone who is called by My name and whom I have created for my glory whom I have formed, even whom I have made.

As your creation, I have no right to do as I please. You created me for Your flory. I am to give an accurate opinion of who you are. This brings You glory. This I do as I live my everyday, ordinary life according to and in agreement with Your will.

I cannot do this in myself. I must trust Your Holy Spirit who abides in me, to empower and motivate me. I sit here surrounded by the beauty of your creation with the chorus of birds waking to a new day. I, too, want to add my song of praise to Elohim, my Creator!

I praise You that You formed me in my mother’s womb. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. You planned me and my life. You have a purposeful reason for my existence. You revealed Yourself to me. You redeemed me from certain death. You have given me a hunger to know You better. You have called me to intercessory prayer and given me the gift of encouraging others.

I desire to follow the example of the rainbow. As the sun shines through a prism, the brightest colors are in the direct line of the sun. The dimmer ones are not quite in perfect alignment. I want to be all that You have created me to be. To be a bright beautiful light for You that brings Your glory and blesses others too.

I trust You to keep me in direct line so Your SON will shine in me and through me.

More than Enough

July 3, 2004

“More than Enough” sung by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. The words to this song belong in this book of Your Names. It ministers to my soul
“Jehovah Jirah, my provider. You are more than enough for me.
Jehovah Raphe, you’re my healer. By your stripes I’ve been set free.
Jehovah shamma, You are with me. You supply all my needs.
You are more than enough for me. You are more than enough. You are more than enough for me!

El Elyon – The God Most High.

July 2, 2004
El Elyon – The God Most High.

Duet 4:34…I praised and worshiped the Most High God and honored the One who lives forever. His rule is everlasting. His kingdom is eternal. He has power to do as He pleases, among the angels of heaven and those who live on the earth (that means me).

Daniel 2:20-23 (NLT)
God alone has all wisdom and power. He determines the course of world events. He removes kings and sets others on the throne. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars. He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what is hidden in darkness, though He himself is surrounded by light.

Duet 32:39
There is no other God than Me. I Am the One who kills and gives life. I am the One who wounds and heals. No one delivers from My power.

As I ponder on these and other verses that speak of Your sovereignty, I am awed that You take notice of me. Yet because of Your sovereign nature, You are completely in control of all that is going on in Iraq. The problems of controlling the terrorism and setting up a government of the people. You took Saddam Hussein out of power and You will set up the new government. You placed George Bush in power and You will keep him there until his job is done.

I recognize that I am just exactly where you want me. My life and times are in Your very capable hands. Thank you for reminding me once again of Your love and care.

Isaiah 45:4 (NLT) “I will be your God (Jean) throughout your lifetime until your hair is white with age. I made you and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”

I bow to Your sovereignty. I acknowledge that I can do nothing in my own strength. You may have to literally “carry me” through to the end of my days. I accept that – if it is from you. Keep me ever mindful of who you are – as I continue to delve deeper into Your character. Mold me knot the image of Your Son.

Adonai - Lord, Lord, LORD, master, or owner

Adonai
June 30, 2004

I bow before You as my Lord and Master. I acknowledge Your right to rule over me. Please take total possession of me and enable me to be totally submitted to You as my Lord and Master. As Your servant I have many benefits, but also responsibilities. As I submit to You, I have all I will ever need for the tasks You set before me. Benefits are:

Love, grace, forgiveness, protection, and rewards (Gen 15:1)
Your graciousness to me (Ps 123:2)
Sustain-ness and satisfaction (Ps 145:14-16)
Refuge (Ps 141:8-10)
Understanding (Ps 119:125)
Deliverance and victory (Judges 6:14-16)
And many more.

Responsibilities (some)
I must look to You – always
I must seek You
I must love the Lord my god with all my heart, mind, and soul.
I must lean on You
Be confident in You
I must allow You to direct my steps
I fear (stand in awe) and worship You (Prov 3:5-7)
I must honor You (every knee must bow and confess You Lord, to the glory of the Father Phil 2:10, 11)

Lord, Adonai, supreme ruler, the authority, controller, absolute ruler over all.

Romans 6:16-18 (New Living Translation)
“Don’t you (Jean) realize that whatever you choose to obey becomes you master? You can choose sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God – Adonai – and receive his approval. Thank god! Once you were a slave of sin, but now you are free from sin, your old master, and you have become a slave to your new master – Righteousness.”

I choose Adonai as my master! But in all truth, I have not chosen You, but You have chosen me. I acknowledge that choice and accept Your total ownership of me as a good thing. The best possible think in all the world. You are a loving and gracious master. There is none better. I am blessed!

I AM

July 2, 2008
God describes Himself as a verb – never a noun. The trinity, God, Son & Holy Spirit.
I AM – a verb. I Am that I Am. I will be who I will be. I Am alive, dynamic, ever active and moving!

Show me when I am holding back a part of me, for myself. I do want you to have all of me, all the time! Every part of my day and even when I am sleeping, especially when I am sleeping.

I need You to be involved in everything I do or encounter. The older I get, the less I do and the less I am involved. But I want and need you more than ever. You can help me cope with all the negatives of aging…the aging sagging body, and I have no energy for anything anymore. Everything tires me and I am breathing hard just to prepare a simple meal. Boy, I’m on a rabbit trail here! Get me back to where I surrender me, myself, and I totally to you!

I love you Lord and I lift my voice, my hands, my life to You in praise and worship. Knowing that these rabbit-trail thoughts are no surprise to you! You love me always!

by faith

June 21, 2008
Hebrews 11 – the Faith chapter. The history of the saint’s faith. By faith Cain, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and on and on. What does my life testify of my faith?

• By faith I believe that I am a sinner and I accepted Jesus’ sacrifice and offer of eternal life.
• By faith, I choose to grow in You
• By faith I prayed for my husband to be delivered from alcohol, and he was!
• By faith I have been blessed with a hip replacement that was expected to last 10-12 years and it has been 28 years already. WOW!
• By faith both daughters know you as Savior.
• By faith I am trusting you to do a further work of grace in other family members.
• By faith we are trusting our future to you – whatever that may be.
• And so much more that I cannot even recall. How you have blessed me. All I can do to say thank you is to “present anew my body as a living sacrifice, which is my reasonable act of worship, knowing I am acceptable in Your sight.” Halleljuah! and praise the Lord!

A Win-Win Situation

Nov 20, 2007

Romans 8:18-39

Paul talks about the present hard times and the coming good times. God is holding back the good times of rejoicing until all the creatures are ready.

I understand this to be saying that You, God, are patiently waiting for the last ones to be born into Your forever family. Then we will be ushered into the glorious times.

We are feeling the birth pangs now. Yearning for full deliverance. You say that waiting does not diminish us any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. The longer we wait, the larger we become and the more joyful our expectancy!

As I wait for my loved ones to return to You, do I wait in joyful expectation? I must admit it is more a frustrated cry “why is it taking so long?” Then I see in verse 20, “when we get tired of waiting, Your Spirit is right alongside, helping me along. When I don’t know what to pray, or even tire of praying, it doesn’t matter. Why? Because You do our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs and aching groans. You know our pregnant condition and keep us present before You. All the while you are shaping my life, conforming me in the image of Jesus – You’re beloved Son.

So, how can I lose? It is a win-win situation. There is absolutely nothing that can drive a wedge between Christ and me. Nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable.

Absolutely nothing can get between us and Your love because of the way that Jesus has embraced us. Hallelujah, Amen!
